How to Play Keno for Free

Played with fake credits and a realistic ~5% house edge — the most expensive maths on this site, on purpose.

This free keno game follows the crypto-casino format: a 40-number board, ten drawn per round, and your choice of one to ten picks. Click numbers (or hit Quick pick for a random ten), set a bet, and press Bet. Balls reveal one by one; every drawn number that matches a pick lights up green, and your payout depends on how many of your picks hit. The paytable under the grid always shows exactly what each hit count pays for your current selection — check it before betting, because it changes with every number you add.

The shape of the game is pure lottery. With ten picks, the most likely outcomes are two or three hits, which pay nothing at all — the visible action of half-lit numbers is precisely how keno feels generous while paying nothing. The big numbers at the end of the table are real but astronomical: hitting all ten of ten has odds of about 1 in 8.9 million, which is why it can advertise 96× (and real casinos advertise far more) without troubling the operator's accountants.

We deliberately gave this game a realistic ~5% house edge instead of the 1% our originals use, because keno's honest role in your education is as the cautionary exhibit. The same 1,000 credits wagered here cost about 50 in expectation versus 10 on Dice and roughly 5 on well-played Blackjack — a tenfold spread between the best and worst-priced games in the same building. Feel it with fake credits: play a hundred rounds of keno, then a hundred rounds of dice at the same stake, and compare balances. Game selection, not luck, is what you just measured. The Real Keno Maths

Hit probabilities follow the hypergeometric distribution — for p picks and h hits: C(10,h) · C(30,p−h) / C(40,p). The 10-pick row here:

Weight each payout by its probability and the row sums to roughly 0.95 — a ~5% edge, and we tuned every pick count (1 through 10) to the same standard. Real-money keno commonly runs 5–10% or worse, especially in land-based and lottery variants, so treat this table as keno on its best behaviour.
